As with most of Sierra's VGA remakes, I never liked LSL1 VGA. None of the remakes seemed to be able to capture the essence and atmosphere of the originals.

I disagree. Unlike the other Sierra VGA remakes, I think LSL1 was actually as good as the original if not better.
