He's a cartoon character. Cartoon characters blow themselves up all the time.

Still felt sorry for the mapmaker over this one though.

LOL, I loved that part! But never fear Wally returns as a member of LeChuck's crew in Monkey Island 3! I was happy about this when I played MI 3, Wally was one of my favorite characters!

Apparently there was a scene taken out where Wally is on a raft in the middle of the sea.
His monacle falls into the sea while hes looking over it and when he reaches in to get it he falls in himself

But they realised this was a bit sad and cruel to the little guy so they took it out..

Because the wonderful rescue by Guybrush in Monkey Island 3 is SO much better isn't it?
