You're right, it sounds like you're saying the same thing twice if you're looking at the dictionary definition. When in actual usage, "salty" means something similar to "seaworthy" but in a broader sense - literally "worthy of the sea". It's usually meant as a compliment. A seaman is just another word for "sailor", which doesn't imply experience, but to say someone is a "salty seaman" implies that he's an experienced or "savvy" sailor.

You mean fat? That seems to be the only white thing on meat that's bad for you that I can think of. Are you trying to say that saying the same thing twice is language equivalent of fat?

maybe "butter on blubber" is a better translation, or "butter on fat".

anyway, when it comes to swearing/bar names, in dreamfall, thoes reflect the real world when we was in that era of history,(steam technology), youst take a look on the old british pubs, you probably will find names like that.

this puzzles me.

and i don't mean that in the inventory changing kind of way.

what puzzles me, particularly, is why people are so up-in-arms about the swearing in the game. for comparison, swearing is possibly one of the mildest "sins" a game can be accused of.

most games now are of the first person shooter variety. there doesn't seem to be much worrisome about that. it's...bizarre to me how killing digital objects by the dozens is ok, but using some amount of profanity is not.

my take on it? the few bits of profanity in dreamfall didn't bother me at all.

I didn't know "fat" was white thing on meat.. But our expression will then be "butter on fat" -> seeing that butter is fat, and two thing on top of it each other is pointless..

RLaceys word sounds correct..

Say, did they censor the USA version, like they did with Indigo Prophecy, for example? Or is it identicle to and just as obscene as the UK version?

I agree with you, it's always odd that swearing is often considered worse than violence. However, in the defence of people who object to swearing - I'm not so keen on it myself, not offended, just not impressed by it - the violence isn't real, but the swearing is always swearing.

A seaman could be young and inexperienced, or an "old salt" - it implies that he's "been around" a while.
