Ooh, impressive acting!

My least favourite game in the series, in part thanks to Dean Erickson and the no less marvellous Joanne Takahashi (and in part because of those endless museum / pixel-hunting sequences). It deserved better.

You are not going to believe this, but I came this close to posting a screen from the very same game. I was looking for a Von Glower pic to drool over. What a laugh I had to see this screen today.

Unlike yourself, I liked this one the best of the series. But then I'm a FMV whore - even the cheesy stuff is better than CG. Besides, there was very good eye candy in this one.

Still haven't played this one (oh how I rue the day I was young and poor and didn't pick up an original boxed copy I saw in a second hand shop) but it's already my favourite because it's FMV.

I don't actually mind Erickson.

This game would be great if it weren't for the most sadistically evil chase sequence at the end of the game. That was the only point at which the walkthrough came out, and it kind of soured the experience.

I was looking for von Glower too, but when I stumbled upon this one at Mobygames, I thought it was too good to let it pass.

I have nothing against FMV. I usually prefer it to 3D. But bad acting is something I can't stand. The Pandora Directive or Wing Commander IV are great, but GK2 feels really unbearable to me.

(Now that I think of it, it's a pic from one of those ridiculous scenes with Harry (Gabe's lawyer) that I should have been looking for. Those two definitely needed to get a room.)

I also thought this game came close to being the best in the series... GK1 only beats it out for me because it had more logical puzzles. (That damn cuckoo clock... meh.)

I liked most of the acting myself... especially Erickson. I liked his take on Gabriel - much subtler than Curry's. Gabe was still kind of a sexist pig, but less over-the-top about it. Playing GK3 afterwards seemed like a step backwards.

I agree that Joanne Takahashi wasn't so great, however - she made Grace come off as a catty bitch. Meow.

I loved this game even though I played it for the first time just a few months back. It definitely hasn't aged very well graphically, but it more than compensates for it by atmosphere, awesome story telling and good acting. A true masterpiece I think.
