It is somebody who makes a living creating and editing puzzles. Some examples: Will Shortz, David Bodycombe, Martin Gardner, Erich Friedman, and Robert Abbott. Some of them work in consulting companies such as Labyrinth Games.

How about "The Adventure Company to discover technology developed in the last five years"? Or, alternately, "Adventure Company to hire professional voice actors."

In response to the accusation of adventure gamers living fifteen years in the past: ever heard the saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it?" Those games were some of the greatest in the genre, as far as I'm concerned. You might as well accuse a theater goer of living in the past by lamenting the fact that no one writes like Shakespeare anymore (and no, I'm not comparing Day of the Tentacle to Shakespeare, just saying that there's nothing wrong with liking good things).

I think the comments were aimed not at people who miss the magic of old adventures, but rather at those who believe that releasing a sequel to their favourite franchise would instantly bring that magic back, while being happily oblivious to current games and gamemakers, to the point where they, for example, mistake The Adventure Company for a developer . All Most people here have a great deal respect for the classics; you know that. But, while lamenting that no one writes like Shakespeare anymore is understandable, saying that Hamlet 2 is a play I would most like to see announced is missing the point entirely.

Exactly. Sierra and LucasArts have been dead for years (as far as adventures go) -- just let it go. I'd rather see new characters than seeing the old ones revived as zombies. I generally tend to believe that unplanned sequels are EEEEVIL. Seriously, the story of Grim Fandango has run its course, no need to artificially add more to it. And unplanned sequels tend to ridiculously add new unforeseen significance to things that didn't deserve it ("no, Gabe, your dagger wasn't only good for cutting up dead mummies or prying gates open"; the whole HT Marley abomination...), and to go completely over the to top to be bigger than the previous episode (cf. BS3, GK3, etc., etc., etc.); and that just cheapens the whole thing. So no more sequels is good news, as far as I'm concerned. And, anyway, I also tend to believe that it's not possible to rekindle the flame a decade after it died down. So we'll never know what was to happen to Larry, or Gabriel and Grace, or Tex. Well, so be it. There are lots of people, old and new, working on fresh stories -- and that's what's worth looking forward to.
