I thought I'd post a fairly new game partly in the hopes of sparking an interest in playing it.

The Secrets of DaVinci: The Forbidden Manuscript

Here's the review.

When you played, did Valdo 'get lucky?' I wasn't expecting it so I actually laughed out of surprise.

Yes, people should really play it, it's great. I know the review looks like it was written by a retarded monkey (hey, I was exhausted and overworked at the time!), but it doesn't make the game any less great. So forget about Paradise, Dreamfall, or BS4, this one is the adventure game of the year.

Which one of my (five, I think) playthroughs do you mean?

The first time, I hadn't been all that nice to her (and hadn't found her necklace* in the stairs), so I didn't. The second time, I decided to follow what I believed to be the game's order, and not to open Leonardo's cabinet until it got put into to to-do list, which means I didn't get the jewel until day 2, which was too late (what a great reward for trying to follow the game's expectations...). And then it worked on the third time.

* which, for some mysterious reason, got translated as "collar" in the English version, giving an interesting twist to their relationship.

But that's nice. The game doesn't have half as much replayability as it claims, but there's always a little something left to discover, which is a nice touch.

I was initially quite dismissive of this due to its title and firstpersonnodeness, but am currently playing Voyage (after reading someone who seemed like a sensible fellow, possibly AFGNCAAP, heaping praise on it several times) and loving the non-linearity, unique style and general lack of irritating puzzles (though not the often pretty static and artifacty looking screens.) If I were able to get past the title, would this be a good game for me to follow up Voyage with? I definitely like the colours in that shot.

I thought it was a gorgeous game. I really like the story and the puzzles were fun. They weren't wierd, combining odd objects to complete your tasks but fitting with the time period. I've really, really enjoyed every Kheops game I've played (Echo, Voyage and Secrets of DaVinci).

wow, the graphics look pretty sweet, i'll admit now i didnt even look at any of the screen shots cause i wasn't suckered in by the whole da vinci storyline mythical bible stuff. not that i've got anything agaisnt such a creative storyline but it just wasn't my thing. but i'll rate the graphics pretty highly if thats what its like thru the whole game.

Great game, gorgeous graphics. I don't think it's quite as big or perhaps convoluted as voyage, at least, it didn't seem to be, and some of the things your character says gives a few clues which I thought unnecessary, but there's some really nice puzzles.

Very good and enjoyable game. I'd say it lacks something to be a truly great game, though. Possibly length... or perhaps it's just that like Voyage, it's a bit light on the exploration, and exploration is what I enjoy the most in AGs.
