Did AGers accidentally publish the review a day early or something...?

i liked the first one, it's still not in my top ten. i dont know why but i was'nt really compelled to play the game in the first place. i bought it and did'nt play it for a month. then i felt as if i had to play it. it was'nt a bad, just was'nt for me. i'm still going to buy the 2nd one to compleate my collection.

I'm currently playing syberia 1 and loving it. Just looking at the beautiful graphics and scenery is enough for me to love the game. I can't wait to play number 2!

Well, "puzzles become more challaging" and that's it. What are they look like now? Give some examples (no need to open the story, just some characteristic),as I have no idea what the author was talking about.
And talking about complaints about the first part, the biggest complain was not about the lack of puzzles (which, of course, was also a great dissappointment about the game), but the lack of interectiveness. From the demo it looks like that the game became even less interective, and there was no word on this aspect in the review. What's up with it? |

Ah, by the way I just read another review of Syberia 2 on some other site, and it tells that the game become easier and shorter (again without telling much about the nature of puzzles). While I'd rather believe the review on AG (and it's reviewrer for sure), it still doesn't look promising...

I'm not a big fan of describing specific puzzles in too much detail in my reviews because then it starts to border on spoilers and even hinting at the solution and that's what people have walkthroughs for. I stated that there were a greater variety in puzzles this time around - not just inventory based and that there are many more logic based type puzzles(ie more 'pure' puzzling). Unfortunately you don't see the different types of puzzles in the demo though.Last edited by Christina; 03-31-2004 at 07:10 PM.. |

For it's sake, I really hope Syberia 2 is a better adventure game than Syberia 1. I played through Syberia 1 since decent adventure games are so rare (like I will do for Syberia 2) but I didn't really think it was all that good.

I loved the first one, mostly because of the locations and story. I actually prefer easier puzzles, or at least games in which I always feel like I am progressing. Games like Myst (I'm playing Exile currently) are so hard that I feel like I'm just wandering around doing nothing most of the time. In Syberia, despite the sleepy pacing (which actually added to the charm, because the locations were so quiet it felt natural) I always felt as though I was getting somewhere, unless I was stuck because I needed to do some serious pixel-hunting (happened three times in the game, not too bad). Few games have such a feeling of constant achievement, especially for those qutie new to the genre as I am. It's good that they've made the puzzles a bit more difficult, and I love logic-based ones (some fantastic ones in Sanitarium, like the water board one, what an awesome puzzle) so I'm looking forward to playing Syberia 2. Also, that little polar bear-looking critter is cute as all heck.
