Default System requierments!!

I love adventuregamers, but one thing is a little annoying. That you don't write the system requierments on the game you are testing!
Please, can't you do that? Because it's much easier instead of going to the offical website and search (which takes time, esp. if there is a big developer) and then after 10 minutes of searching find the system req.

So please, bring system requierments with the reviews!!

Thanks
Isak

Very good point! So, Stinger, what's our excuse for not doing this?

Time and space collapsed and thus hindered tabacco's efforts to put a System Requirements box in the reviews.

System requirements... for adventures? Pretty much anything newer than an abacus can run an adventure.

OK, I agree it's a pretty good idea. Bearing in mind that most stated specs are a complete joke.

Uh huh. Now why didn't I think of those? Or Uru and BS3. I was obviously poking fun at the other 95% of adventures out there.

Or - look at the sys reqs the other way around. Many adventures don't run on Win XP, for example. Or, mention that some games do work using some kind of downloadable utility, such as ScummVM or DosBox.

Dammit, there goes the other 95% he was trying to make fun of.

First of all, for 95% of the games in our review index the system requirements are irrelevant. Does anyone care what machine runs The Secret of Monkey Island? Or even The Longest Journey? I doubt many people are still running a 486

Then there's still the 5%, but as pointed out in this thread, recommended system specs are not always that accurate. If an upcoming game (like Fahrenheit, or Dreamfall) has unusual requirements we'll probably mention it in the running text of the (p)review if we think it's important.

Those who really want to know the specs can look it up on the official websites, which we almost always link to. (Click on the company name).

You'd better. I'd hate to see your pretty little head on a burning stake, put there by the pissed off Luddites who, after reading our [possibly] glowing reviews, had run out and bought these two games only to watch in horror as their ten year old DOS dinosaurs died of fright just looking at the box art, let alone the reqs. ........

Backwards compatibility is extremely important, but a totally different issue. The AG reviews seem to do a good job of covering that within the review.

I still think it's probably a good idea to include system requirements. More and more games will probably be taxing some people's computers (we can only hope, anyway). Could be offered through a link, so it's not cluttering up the main review page.

I can see Marek's argument for not listing specs for games such as The Secret of Monkey Island, but I also see the point arguing in favour of having specs. Why not compromise, and have a little 'System Information' tab that, if a game is old, tells you whether you need ScummVM/DosBOX to run it (or indeed if it doesn't work on a modern system), or, if a game is new, tells you a little about how it runs on modern systems?
