Snazzy interview! Rand's always fun to listen to.
One small tidbit... Quote:
And I'm thinking that "Robert" might have been "RAWA" instead? Ah, the perils of transcription! |

Splendid, intelligent Q&A, Laura! I love Rand's philosophy, he's at once a visionary and pragmatist.

"Ro-cough" sounds about right." Could have been RAWA OR Robin OR perhaps some actual Robert person.
The tape had it's moments. Will check on this. And it was more like meeting Atrus' cheery twin. In person, he is very personable and engaging, glad you enjoyed the chat. ![]() Last edited by LauraMac; 07-11-2005 at 08:10 PM.. |

Spectacular interview, very interesting.
One thought on who the person who's name begins with "R" is. Here's the quote in the article. "Rand: No, just Tim Larkin. We have been using him for a long time. He feels as close to this project as anyone, except for myself and Robyn." I tdon't think it's Robyn, unless Robyn is back on the team. Robyn hasn't worked on any of the games since Riven, years ago. Perhaps it's Ryan Miller - the youngest of the Miller brothers, who was worked on all the games (I believe). Ryan had a big role in Uru and I suspect a pretty big role in Myst V. So it's probably either Ryan Miller or Richard Watson. Richard has had roles in all the games and a bigger role in Uru, and I'd guess he'd be doing a lot of work on Myst V. As far as I can tell, there is no other "Robert" person who has been involved in all the games, from day 1. Of course I could be wrong. SJC - funny comment! |

Well I am myst-ified.
I don't have the tape where I am now, But I listened to it repeatedly [meaning f.o.r.e.v.e.r.] when I was transcribing and there was a Rob-cough something. He was speaking of the series as a whole - so I tilted back to Robyn and changed it. If there IS a Robert out there - well he's gone for good. If it was Ryan or RAWA same applies. [sorryboutthatguys] Course I could make it Robyn,RAWA,Ryan and Robert - but made my head hurt Look! - a three headed monkey! |

Heh heh heh. Only in the most abstract persona sense, and some way back geneaology. Convention pronounces my name to sound like "celery"...given that it's Welsh, I suspect the correct pronounciation is closer to "Alice" or "Gertude" Then again... I could have gone for my Polish roots "I'd like a Z please, Vanna!" |

It's pronounced like this. It's actually my sister's middle name.
