With Sony charging an arm and a leg for the PS3, I don't think I'm the only one who thinks that some are!

I'm trying desperately not to sound like a Ninty fanboy myself, but nobody is forcing DS owners to buy the DS Lite. The fact that so many are choosing to do so is simply a sign of the importance they attach to it.

Judging by the snobbery that seems to go hand-in-hand with them lately, Nintendo games are the new adventure games or something. I'm perfectly fine with people disliking Nintendo games when they've actually tried them - what I don't approve of is people discounting Nintendo (and its systems) as being "for babies pfft" just because they saw a purple Gamecube and some screenshots of Animal Crossing once.

Not that I'm accusing you of such a thing, but your "Japanese games are all mental" (quote may be wholly inaccurate) comment in another thread came dangerously close. Bre.

Heresy aside, can you actually say that you honestly prefer the extreme thirteen-year-old geek macho bullshit of western developers to the playfulness of the Japanese? Dismissing the whole culture of gamecraft because of the merits (or lack thereof) of some ass poking arcade game, or the nature of the visuals is so goddamn surreal to me.

See? You are missing the point! I never said those games were bad, I was simply talking about perception! People say Nintendo is all kiddy and cutesy because a large portion of their games are! They've said themselves that their target audience is younger gamers. That doesn't mean the games are bad, they are just childish.

And yes, I like western games better. So sue me.

They make games that happen to not involve wading through knee-deep gore... and yet, one of the first games announced for the console is a FPS made by the French... and still that Nintendo curse continues! No, my reasoning is quite on the point. Anyone who thinks Nintendo makes kiddy, shite games, deserves to find him or herself on the receiving end of a whole host of gross assumptions, assumptions as gross as the ones he/she/it's making.
