I just want to take a second and say thanks to Wreck for taking the time to do this each day. It's a little thing but I've come to look forward to slogging into work everyone morning, pulling my first cup of coffee, and checking the forums to see what adventure moment I get to look back upon each day. Then my boss comes in and I act busy.

It's a puzzle every day for me.

I usually see the new screeshot at work during lunch, but the work network 9 times out of ten blocks the link so all I see is a red X and have to guess the game from the picture name.

I always try to get it before anyone posts something about what game it is.

For instance I think todays is Laura Bow, but which game??

I'll find out later

Unfortunately the screenshot means nothing to me but I second bysmitty's appreciation of Wreck. It's easy to take it for granted that this will appear every day and forget that someone is actually taking the time to get a screenshot and post it.

Just out of curiosity are the screenshots taken from play, sourced from the web or a combination thereof?

To be honest, I wouldn't have recognized the screenshot myself if Laura hadn't been present herself, since the scene itself doesn't look familiar to me. Guess that's one more reason to replay this lovely game.

I'd reccomend them in a heart beat. They can actually make you pretty nervous if you play 'em in the dark by yourself. Just remember if you're going to play them that you should write down everything you see or hear, like a good little detective. The Laura Bow games don't do the detective work for you, so if you're not a sleuth, you'll find yourself with pretty bad endings and no idea who the killer was.

Humph... That's mostly true of the first one, although it is rather forgiving. But the second one should have avoided all that altogether, as the designer seems to have been unable to take his job seriously.

Spoiler:

For instance, at one point, you can cross Yvette's office to get into Carrington's. As soon as you get there, you can hear Yvette (through the door) talking with Pr. Smith, and then leaving. Immediately after that, you can spy on various rooms in the museum, with Carrington's intercom. And who can you hear? Yvette, seemingly back in her office, but with O'Riley this time. But also: Yvette, in the basement, with Ernie Leach. And, of course, when you leave Carrington's office, the belle's nowhere to be seen!

Seriously, a game that can't even keep track of where its characters are should not start asking you a thousand questions about the plot in the end. That questionnaire really ruined the game for me (and those were the days before the Internet, remember, so no cheating possible). It's a shame, as it was a very good game otherwise. And, as you said, the atmosphere was terribly scary. I kept making nightmares because of it (okay, I must have been ten at the time, so maybe that explains it; but my mother also had nightmares because of it, and therefore, at some point, my father almost had to go on his own, which didn't help when we had to figure out who the killer was in the end --- and the bloody motives ). Actually, I still get shivers running down my spine when I hear this or that theme --- amazing soundtrack! And another reason to feel so sorry that the sleuthing part had been botched up.

Oh, and since it seems to be the official We-love-Wreck day, I'll add my full support to the event!

Yup, Wreck's doing great work here. I too also end up checking the Adventure Game Scene of the Day everyday. It's always great to relive classic moments in adventure gaming (And in some rare instances for me, see something completely new!).
