Psst, that shot is in fact brand new, Emily. It's the first screenshot released showing their 3D character models in game (all previous screenshots had 2D drawn character models, which isn't representative of the final game which will be using realtime 3D for the characters).
Compare: I love how the new 3D stuff looks. I guess it lacks the "purity" of an all 2D image (if that sort of thing bothers you ), but wow does it looks great to allow a character to walk all the way up to the extreme foreground of the shot and not look tiny. The perspective and size of everything looks so great (not to mention the lighting!).I just finished writing this up for AG a few minutes ago (though the news is 2 days old... but that's another story *ahem*), and even added that screenshot to the AG database for AVS. . Compare her height to that of the well which she is standing a few feet in front of.also she might be a little too large or close up because the screenshot is a test.

I think it brings the background into perspective, making it less flat and more evident where the foreground/background lies. It's a much better image.
edit - they might want to take that fg barrel out tho on the right otherwise she's floating. Technical term is "standing on a box" in animation l337 speak.

I'm not trying to complain. It's obviously a work in progress. It's just a little startling at the moment. |

If you check the perspective lines you can see the building is well behind her. Look at the barrel on the stairs.
The barrel to the right in the foreground, however, is a different matter - probably why it's got a logo over it. And the well wall needs raising.

![]() That's just splitting hairs, though. I'm not worried about it. (But we need to argue about something, don't we?!) |

Even though that is just a test shot and not even close to finished, it looks very nice. Everything does seem to go well with Tiller's project.
I hope they'll get the publishing deal soon. ![]()

I really loved the old 2D Mona design, but now she seems to look even better.
Didn't hear anything about A Vampyre Story for a long time, hope it gets to see the light of the day in the end. What am I saying? Anything but sunlight ![]()

The perspective is perfect. It looks weird because the camera's looking up which makes her look larger than she really is. Orson Welles used the technique to great effect.
