Default Hype-O-Meter 4/8/03

This week's Hype-O-Meter, along with my apologies for going a month between updates:

1. Sam & Max 2 (unchanged) - Our moment of silence continues.

2. Dreamfall (up 1) - Syberia 2's release opens up a spot for what is sure to be the biggest adventure release of 2005.

3. Beneath a Steel Sky 2 (new) - A new adventure from Revolution is instant Top 5, but a sequel to this classic ten years later almost seems too good to be true.

4. Project Jane-J (up 2) - We've finally heard some good news (anonymously) that leads us to bump this game back up to where it probably belongs.

5. Moment of Silence (down 1) - Still flying under everyone else's radar.

6. Lost Paradise (down 1) - Concept art beginning to come in.

7. Fahrenheit (unchanged) - Not that 7 should be a bad thing...we just couldn't find anything to rank below it in the top six!

8. Myst 4 (new) - The editors of AG have never been the biggest Myst fans in the world, but there's no question that this announcement is a good thing for the adventure genre, and we can at least be assured the game will be a sight to behold.

9. Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude (down 1) - Four days ago, Al Lowe updated his website to say "Still nothing." Why, why, why....plus, previews indicate there is graphic sexual imagery to such an extent, that the game may get slapped with an AO rating in its current form (i.e. commercial suicide).

10. The Westerner (down 1) - Still haven't read a single bad review, other than one particularly disgruntled forumer.

Remember, comments are not only encouraged, but essential in order for this to work right. Thanks as always!

Cool. This list seems about right. I'd like to know what you've heard about Project Jane-J but I guess we'll have to wait.

I'm almost afraid to ask given the subject of the game, but what does "Magna Cum Laude" actually mean?

Translated, it means "with high honors"; it's a distinction granted to students with an exceptional academic record. I get the feeling, however, that the High Voltage guys used it mainly because it includes the word "cum"...

At GDC, they were wearing electronic tags on their shirts that scrolled "Will work for sex"...

Selling is legal. Föicking is legal. Why then in so many places selling föicking isn't?

*roflmfltflmlf*

Spoiler:
In case someone is wondering, that's a supressed ROFL. And since webster.com probably wouldn't contain the proper spelling of suppressed, and I am too lazy to get up my chair, you just have to bear with the misspelling. Nyah.

I thought I'd wait but now I've got to ask, are you going to leak or publish this information or give us some hints.

It's actually a fourth Gabriel Knight game wherein Gabriel and Grace must save earth from a rampaging horde of demons from the innermost circle of hell, using only their wits and a stunning array of weaponry.
