From the point of view of a photographer, I have to agree with fov that Mona seems a bit out of proportion, in accordance to the background. A bit on the unnatural big side, since a person who's up-close in a still-image, wouldn't be that slender, even if she is. Then again, if everything is realistically portrayed, what's the point of dreams, imaginations and games?

Hopefully the conversion from 2D to 3D won't bring upon too many bugs, or irritating details (like floating in the air, unintentionally or sitting on the air right on top of a chair). Have yet to actually see or play any irritant-free 3D game yet.

Versus, you know, how in 2D games "picking something up" consists of one frame of animation where their hand is sticking out, and then a frame where it goes back to their "not moving" picture. Clearly that technology is superior on all fronts.

I seriously believe that a lot of developer used this "inferior" 2D animation to get away with murder. Not including in details is quite good in tickling player's imagination of building the image of handing and receiving things, without having actual animations of items being passed.

I can't remember seeing a lot of this kind of thing in games like Syberia or Runaway, that use 3D characters on 2D backgrounds, so hopefully it won't be a big problem in A Vampyre Story either.

Actually that happens in 3D games as well.

Just look at Martin Mystere.

Near the start he has to pick up a phone. Obviously getting your character to bend down and pick it up is mightily complicated so they opted for the hold out arm and use jedi skills to make the phone jump from table to hand.

Yet doing animation is much cheaper with a 3D package, a good hierarchical skinned model and a bit of IK than by drawing frames

Heh.

At our Tony Tough 2 preview at E3, we saw that they're actually animating a lot of these kinds of actions (sometimes with really amusing results). Something to look forward to.

She's very top-heavy too it seems. She looks as if she'd fall over any second.

Whatever. It's all part of the Vampyre Allure, only goofily exaggerated in cartoon form.

A vampyre with an eating disorder?

That'd make for an interesting After School Special...

Well she doesn't seem to be too into being one from what little Tiller has said about it.

Also: She's a cartoon. Also: Are you worried she's a negative role model for growing girls?

Not really. It just disturbs me when I look at her. It looks wrong to me.

I think her waistline could be a little less severe without it affecting her overall image. Compare:

Doesn't really matter. I'll play it anyway. It's just that every time I see a picture of her, all I can think about is how frickin skinny she is.

Maybe she only drinks AB - ?

Thank god we got a long way to go till we see the final game cause I'm not impressed with the Mona model. I'm sure Bill Tiller and the team could come up with something better.
